“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” Nelson Henderson
Although trees may be dormant during winter months, they can still appear beautiful as evidenced by these with a frosty coating along a pond.
You can help Save Earth and reduce the impact of global warming. Yes, you can have a positive role in climate change! Wherever you live, you can make a difference. The solution is rather simple: Plant Trees.
Climate change mantras are off base. Like the seasons, the weather is cyclical. Our planet rotates around our star. That gravitational pull causes Earth to move closer or further away from the sun. Hence the cycle.
A few years ago, Lake Michigan was down about four feet. With normal cycles it is now closer to normal depth. One year may see thirty inches of snow while the next gets that much in one snowfall. Earth rotates around the sun; not the other way around. It’s cyclical.

More than 180 million people drink water that originates in forestland that is often hundreds of miles away! Did you also know that 29% of the country’s land surface is forested, but that supplies more than half of America’s fresh water? (Information courtesy of Arbor Day Foundation)
Trees absorb and store the key greenhouse gas – carbon dioxide (CO2) – emitted by our cars and power plants, before it has a chance to reach the upper atmosphere where CO2 helps trap heat around the Earth’s surface. That’s why trees are so important.
Planting trees is a tool every one of us can use to save and beautify our planet. Forests are the safest means to prevent mass erosion of soil and inject essential nutrients into waterways.
This site is dedicated to helping individuals, business owners, corporate board members, elected officials, and global leaders understand the importance of trees to Earth’s survival – and to act now to save our planet before it’s too late.
One acre of mature trees provides enough oxygen for 18 people for a year!
If we, as residents of Earth, make a determined effort to plant trees on the more than one billion acres currently lying fallow, those trees would eventually produce enough oxygen for 180 million people. Fallow land is, basically, acreage that could be used but is now idle. In many cases, the government pays farmers and land owners to keep their land fallow. Why not pay for them to plant trees?
It’s a starting point, but you can do your part by planting a tree in your yard today.
Think about it. Then do something!
Even though it may take years to reach maturity, you can watch a tree grow, provide shade (yes, and leaves to rake perhaps) and a home for birds, squirrels, or other inhabitants with which we share this planet. If it’s a fruit-bearing tree, you get to enjoy the apples, cherries, pears, or other delectable fruit it produces. All this in addition to reducing the impact of humanity on our climate… one tree at a time.
Companies can contribute to reforestation efforts as a means to offset their carbon footprint. Here’s one example.
There’s an initiative to honor those slain during America’s Civil War with a goal of planting 620,000 trees. Learn more.
