Planet Earth

Mother Earth – Planet Earth – Third Rock from the Sun

Americas from spaceEarth:  Our 7,927 mile (12,760 kilometer) diameter globe in our solar system–it’s where we live…for now.

What we far too often take for granted is how precious life is on our little globe in the vast expanse of the universe. Conditions are ideal for life as we know it.

Although we humans are still searching for similar conditions elsewhere in the cosmos, we’ve only been able to discover the presence of water in some of its various forms – mostly ice – in only a few places in the universe. Recent (2025) searches discovered an extremely similar planet in terms of its appearance, proximity to its star, and other conditions that make it seem to be a twin of Mother Earth. More to come.

We, as thinking human beings, are stewards of this planet. We cannot control the effects of nature, although we try. We can’t stop volcanoes from erupting or rivers from flooding or tornadoes from touching down, and we certainly wouldn’t want to stop the sun from shining or the rain or snow from coming to earth.

We can, however, do something about the impact each of us has on our home planet. We can plant trees. The trillion of them on earth support our entire population.

Trees help our planet – and us as earthlings – breathe.

Think of our stewardship this way:  Where are we going to live if we don’t take care of Earth?

Corporations can reduce carbon footprints. Earthlings can do our part. Carpool. Take the bus, Ride your bike. Walk. Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. Lower  your energy consumption.

Turn off your phone and talk face-to-face. The New York Times reported that it takes 10,000 cell phone batteries to make one (yes, one) electric vehicle battery pack! If you think about electric vehicles logically, you realize it takes fossil fuels to charge them, so while they may seem a good way to save the world, they have only minimal impact.

We don’t need more lithium, we need more trees!

These starting points have a far greater impact on saving Earth when more than a few earthlings adopt the practices. It takes a global effort by every thinking human being.

Save Earth – Plant Trees … and do more!
